16 Sep Artificial Intelligence: A Policy Framework for Congress in Education and Workforce

BPC Action applauds Reps. Will Hurd (R-TX) and Robin Kelly (D-IL) for the introduction of a concurrent resolution which outlines a national artificial intelligence strategy and builds off accomplishments by both the Obama and Trump administrations. The resolution provides a roadmap for Congress as it considers how to ensure the United States remains a global leader in technology while protecting the privacy rights that Americans cherish. Specifically, the resolution calls for strengthening international cooperation, increasing investments in R&D and workforce training programs, and developing AI in an ethical way that reduces bias and protects privacy.

This resolution builds on the Bipartisan Policy Center’s new AI initiative, including a series of convenings with expert stakeholders from business, academia, civil society, and government.
