BPC Action Applauds Bicameral Momentum, Urges Collaboration on 2024 Farm Bill  in Agriculture, Energy and Environment

Bipartisan Policy Center Action (BPC Action) is encouraged by recent bicameral momentum on the 2024 farm bill following the release of draft outlines from respective Senate and House Agriculture Committee leadership, Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA). A farm bill, reauthorized every five years, is critical to supporting rural and urban communities across the country, and cross-party cooperation is imperative to making an impactful difference. We appreciate that these proposals are a positive step to achieving that goal by incorporating a wide spectrum of viewpoints from diverse stakeholders and industries; a goal difficult to accomplish without Chairwoman Stabenow and Chairman Thompson’s stewardship.

As Congress moves toward reauthorization, BPC Action urges both committees to collaborate on a bipartisan bill that supports conservation and forestry, agricultural innovation, rural development, and child care access while addressing food and nutrition security. We applaud these significant steps on both sides of Capitol Hill and stand ready to build on this momentum to bring a final bipartisan bill over the finish line.
