Water Power Research and Development Act Important for New Energy Technologies in Energy and Environment

BPC Action commends Reps. Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) and Don Young (R-AK) for the introduction of the Water Power Research and Development Act, H.R. 6084.  The legislation will support Department of Energy research, development, demonstration, and deployment (RDD&D) of hydropower, pumped storage, and marine energy technologies. These technologies can provide a flexible and consistent source of clean energy, act as essential back-up power during electricity outages, and deliver dispatchable power to balance high wind and solar penetrations.  These RDD&D efforts are essential to support the whole energy innovation lifecycle and to position America as a global leader in water power technologies.

We are glad to see congressional support for further development of these water power technologies. BPC Action looks forward to working with Congress to pass this important bill.
