BPC on the Hill: Freshman Class Reception in Government Reform

On Monday, July 16, the Bipartisan Policy Center hosted freshman members of Congress at a reception honoring the U.S. House of Representatives freshman class. This informal gathering, honorarily hosted by Representatives Don Bacon (R-NE), Jack Bergman (R-MI), Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), Salud Carbajal (D-CA), and Stephanie Murphy (D-FL), gave members an opportunity to come together socially and celebrate the class’s ongoing commitment to creating a more civil Congress.

The honorary hosts shared their thoughts from their participation in BPC’s American Congressional Exchange Program (ACE), which gives members the opportunity to visit colleagues of the opposite party in their districts. Attendees also discussed establishing a mentorship program for the incoming 116th class.

BPC Action is encouraged by the freshman class’s commitment to civility and looks forward to working with them to make that a reality in Congress.
