Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act an Important Step for Energy Efficiency in Energy and Environment

BPC Action applauds Sens. Portman (R-OH) and Shaheen (D-NH) for introducing the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act, S. 2137. The bill will improve energy efficiency in buildings, manufacturing, and the federal government, and we commend the continued bipartisan commitment to this key issue.

Energy efficiency improvements over the last 40 years have allowed the U.S. to increase its economic growth while reducing its energy usage.  The Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act will further bolster our energy efficiency and provide substantial benefits for our nation’s economy and environment.  This legislation will ensure there are continued economy-wide improvements in energy efficiency, a trend that is complementary to other carbon emissions reduction goals. Greater efficiency may also reduce operating costs for local and federal government and industry.

BPC Action looks forward to working with Congress to pass this important bill and make greater energy efficiency a reality.
