10 Jun LEADING Act Important Step for Carbon Capture Technology in Energy and Environment

BPC Action applauds Sens. Cornyn (R-TX), Coons (D-DE), Cassidy (R-LA), and Sinema (D-AZ) for introducing the Launching Energy Advancement and Development through Innovations for Natural Gas (LEADING) Act of 2019. We are pleased to see congressional support for advances in carbon capture technology for natural gas power generation.

Natural gas is now the dominant source of US electricity and as nations around the world strive to address carbon pollution, advances in carbon capture technology are necessary to ensure our industries become even cleaner, more efficient, and more competitive globally. Thanks to decades of federal research, the United States has pioneered breakthroughs in natural gas production that have benefited American consumers and businesses. Passage of the LEADING Act will enable the United States to bolster its competitive edge by supporting research to advance the next generation of carbon capture technologies.
